Andrea’s overflowing boxes and baskets to explore

Feel free to just come along with your own work in progress to sit and chat with others while you make. In the company of others we can find encouragement, inspiration, confidence, compassion, and adventure. Andrea always brings a small slow stitch project for you to follow, and even with little or no stitching experience you will be able to join in.

Sock darning by Christine!

When we Slow Stitch we do not set out with a goal in mind, we are not aiming to produce an artwork of great value. We simply focus on the process of our making and see where it takes us: how the cloth feels in our hands, which colours light up our eyes, how we can slow our breathing, how we become aware of the small voices inside that criticise our handiwork – and how we can set these voices aside and just stitch anyway.

Under Andrea’s warm gaze and welcoming encouragement, everyone can find something to express their curiousity and innate creativity. Every piece of work we stitch is a slowing down expression of self in a fast-moving world.
